Job Title: Product Manager - Marketing

Job Description:

Northland Pet Supply Inc. is seeking a full time Product Manager to oversee all aspects of the advertising and sales of our modular kennels, premium dog houses, and other pet products in Canada and the U.S.A. The Product Manager will also:

  • direct and evaluate the advertising activities of the sales department
  • establish distribution networks for the company's products and services, initiate market research studies and analyze their findings, develop sales and marketing materials, and assist in product development
  • assist in the planning and implementation of advertising / marketing campaigns to promote the sales of products and services
  • develop and implement advertising campaigns appropriate for print or electronic media
  • advise senior management on advertising or sales promotion strategies
  • oversee the development of distribution networks for the company's products and services, initiate market research studies and analyze their findings, develop sales and marketing materials, and assist in product development strategies based on market research
  • assist in the planning and implementation of advertising / marketing campaigns to promote the sales of products and services
  • plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the design, development and maintenance of the company's Internet sites and related marketing
  • locate, select and procure merchandise for resale
  • resolve customer complaints

The Product Manager will report to the Director of Sales, Senior Marketing Manager, and the President / CEO.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • completion of high school
  • minimum 1 year of senior retail and wholesale sales experience in the pet industry - this experience would ideally include a background in sales to dog breeders and boarding kennel operations
  • strong computer, Internet, and e-mail skills
  • must have strong communications skills including the ability to write and speak English proficiently

Highly Desired Skills and Experience:

While all of the following attributes are not strictly essential, the candidate should exhibit at least one or more of the following attributes. Strong preference will be given to candidates that exhibit all of the following:

  • post-seconday eductation (diploma or degree program) in business or commerce
  • second language relevant to our primary markets, particularly Spanish and/or French
  • previous experience in e-commerce and Internet distribution
  • basic knowledge of website design and HTML

Remuneration:

Expected base compensation of $18 to $20 per hour (exact salary or wage commensurate with education and experience). Bonuses based on department performance to be negotiated.
